Dr Michelle King is a qualified psychiatrist, with a passion for learning and teaching. She has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Intervention, and post-graduate diplomas in both Interdisciplinary Pain Management, and Palliative Medicine. She has been in practice since 2007.

She frequently treats ADHD, depression, and anxiety disorders, as well as PTSD, and substance dependency. Her interests also include chronic pain, palliative medicine, and sleep disorders.

Dr King founded the Limpopo Pain Clinic in 2019, which offers a multi-disciplinary approach to chronic pain management and palliative care. She is also the sitting president of PainSA, a professional body that advocates for pain management in all of its aspects.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr King is a regular guest lecturer at UCT on the subject of pain management in palliative care, and contributes to several medical journals.

Chronic pain affects 1 in 5 South Africans but unfortunately many people do not end up getting the right treatment or do not have their pain acknowledged.

When it comes to treating chronic pain a team approach is required. Dr King is part of an interdisciplinary team, The Limpopo Pain Clinic which provides treatment for chronic pain conditions.

If you will be consulting Dr King via teleconsult she will be able to put you in contact with other therapists, were needed, to help you manage your pain. Unfortunately, not all chronic pain can be completely alleviated but you can be helped to improve the quality of your life.

Dr King is the current President of PainSA. The association is aimed at supporting research in pain, advocating for patients who are living with chronic pain, and teaching at different levels about the management of pain.
